Top 3 Reasons Why Your Healthy Diet Isn’t Helping

October 6th, 2016 by admin

Does it seem like no matter how “healthy” you eat, you still have symptoms?

Join the club (but not for long)! That’s what I hear from just about every one of my clients, when we initially meet. They feel that no change they make results in them feeling better, and they’re downright frustrated. They know that food can heal, but haven’t cracked the code on how to eat to feel great again.

Here are the top 3 reasons why eating healthier doesn’t make you feel better:

1.) You’re eating better, but not more mindfully. When you eat in “fight or flight” mode, rather than “rest and digest” mode, your healthy meal won’t do you much good. When eating while multi-tasking, standing up or thinking more about your to-do list and deadlines, than focusing on the present moment and what’s on your plate, you don’t make the right amounts of stomach acid, enzymes and bile to properly break down and absorb your foods. Remember–you are not just what you eat, but what can DO with what you eat.

Try this: Take 5 deep, calming breaths before you dig in. This activates your parasympathetic nervous system and gets you into “rest and digest” mode. You’ll digest and absorb your food much better.

2.)You have a gut infection. I see this a lot. No matter how many great changes you make, even the above, if you have a gut infection that’s keeping your gut inflamed and your digestion compromised, you’re screwed. Until, of course, you identify and clear that infection. I use the BioHealth 401H test, the gold standard of the Functional Medicine world, for identifying GI pathogens, like H. pylori, parasites and other, overgrown bacteria, that wreak havoc on your system (even triggering autoimmunity), your gut and your ability to heal.

Want that test? You have to work with a functional practitioner to get it, or you can join Root Cause Reset (see below) and get it as an add-on.

3.) You’re not eating for optimal blood sugar. Knowing what to eat is great, but if you’re not combining your foods in a way that keeps your blood sugar steady (protein-fat-fiber), you’re going to keep having those energy dips, mood swings and headaches, as well as continue to have and give in to your intense carb and sugar cravings. This is why most people mistakenly believe that eating healthy is hard. Blood sugar swings also drive inflammation, which will keep your symptoms and any disease process going strong.

If you’d like to be able to address these things and more, in order to feel your best again, and to make your diet truly a healing one, learn more about Root Cause Reset HERE.
